Below you will find SEASON 1 of Unstress Lab Premium Podcast.

Welcome to the Unstress Lab, a miniseries by the Holistic Health Institute hosted by Dr Ron Ehrlich.

This is the podcast where we unpack and understand stress, what stress actually means in our modern world, how it affects us, and most importantly, how to build resilience to deal with it.

In these next 12 episodes, we have created a step by step guide and model of healthcare to kickstart your journey towards a life that helps you maintain good health, improve how you deal with stress in our modern world, and a structure to help you overcome disease.

The Unstress Lab is a program based on clinical experience and backed by science. Over the last few years, I've had the privilege of recording interviews with over 300 podcasts, and so many of my guests have been leaders in their field and also incredibly inspiring. In this mini-series, we will be sharing the highlights with new commentary exploring the five pillars of health: Stress, Sleep, Breath, Nourish, and Thought.

With knowledge comes power. We are here to empower you.

Stress

It's easy to think that our genes determine our destiny. You have no control over your genes, right? Well, not exactly.

Personal empowerment is an important theme of everything we do on this wellness journey. For example, for many years, there has been an argument in medicine, nature versus nurture. But what if there was an unexplored missing link? Enter, the science of epigenetics.

In this episode we explore the way our DNA and our lifestyle factors interact to express themselves in a conversation with Dr. Bruce Lipton, an internationally recognised leader in bridging science and spirit, a developmental biologist holding Ph.D. in cell biology from the University of Virginia and authored "The Biology of Belief".

And in the second half of the episode we will explore the importance of heart health in combating preventable long term diseases with Dr Ross Walker, one of Australia's leading cardiologists at the Sydney Heart Health clinic, and has published 7 best selling books on preventive cardiology and lectures both nationally and internationally on this subject.

Stress
Have you ever heard of the term 'environmental stress'?

You might be excused for thinking we are talking about climate change, but environmental stress actually relates to how we interact with the world around us. We are talking about the chemicals in our food, air, water, clothes, furniture, personal care products and how they impact the mind and body. Every year, we are exposed to over 100, 000 chemicals, and each year that number increases by 2000-3000 chemicals a year.

So what can we do about it? By making informed choices you can reduce the impact of this type of ubiquitous stress by 80-90%. In this episode, we explore environmental health with David O Carpenter, a public health physician and professor of environmental health sciences at the University of Albany, SUNY. His research interests have focused on the environmental causes of chronic diseases of old age including cardiovascular disease, hypertension, diabetes, arthritis, thyroid disease and neurodegenerative diseases.

And in the second half of this episode, we put this theory into action in a candid conversation with Julian Cribb, distinguished science journalist, Co-Founder of the Council for the Human Future and author of eight books, including "Surviving the 21st Century".

Sleep
What if I told you that scientists have discovered a revolutionary new treatment that makes you live longer, enhances your memory, lowers your risk of heart attacks and disease, plus makes you feel happier, less depressed, and less anxious?
...Would you be interested?

Well that is exactly what a consistently good night is, plus, it's a free and accessible habit for a lifetime.

In this episode, we explore how we can get a good night's sleep with I'll be talking to one of Australia's leading Sleep Physicians Dr Anup Desai, who's clinic is The Sydney Sleep Centre.... and who I have had the privilege of working closely with and referring many patients that....require a more in depth sleep analysis. We discuss the relationship between mental health and sleep quality, how much sleep you actually need for your age, how many people are actually getting a good night's sleep, and how you can improve your sleep with easy, actionable tips.

And in the second half of this episode, we talk to Dr Chris Winter, a neurologist, sleep specialist and author of 'The Sleep Solution: Why Your Sleep is Broken and how to Fix it'. In our discussion, we take a deeper dive into sleep disorders, how common they actually are, and what we can actually do about it.
