Practical Advice From Nora Gedgaudas
If we want to understand how to most optimally feed a human being, the most essential starting place is looking at the selective pressures that shaped our physiological makeup and our nutritional requirements in the first place.
Longevity research shows that a generalised calorie restriction significantly enhances health and lifespan.
The Primalgenic Dietary Approach
Nora prefers to use “primalgenic” to describe her approach to diet and nutrition. It is a very low carbohydrate approach that is moderate in protein.
The diet involves:
- Meeting your protein needs from animal source foods that are complete proteins.
- Eating as many fibrous vegetables and greens as you want.
- The majority of your calories come from a variety of healthy fat sources.
All food must come from sources that are of uncompromising quality. They must be organic, biodynamically grown, free-range and 100% grass-fed and finished meat. Anything else is health compromising (e.g. ultra processed foods).
