EPISODE 6 – Breathe: Why We Breathe & How to Breathe Well

How much thought do you put into your breath? It’s something we do every minute of our lives, but how often do you focus on how you breathe? In this episode we are going to be focused on the impact good breathing can have on your health.

In the first half of this episode, we speak with Roger Price, a Functional Medicine and Integrative Health Educator with over 60 years of experience in the medical field. We discuss why we breathe, what breath actually is and what happens in our body in order for us to breathe, alkaline water and acidity, and the meaning of ‘coherent breathing’.

In the second half of this episode, we speak with Dr Rosalba Courtney, an osteopath with over 40 years of experience in clinical practice in osteopathic treatments, with a PhD on the topic of dysfunctional breathing and breathing therapy.

In our conversation, we discuss a system she has created called Integrative Breathing Therapy, based on the models and tools developed during her PhD and subsequent research, what dysfunctional breathing looks like, the optimal range of breaths per minute, the diaphragm and how we can retrain our breath for optimised use.
